When he was still working as a professor,Helmut Lortz taught generations of students to open their eyes and introduced them to what he calls “understanding through seeing”. As he himself says: “My eyes never sleep.” His former student Armin Lindauer [now himself a professor at the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim] had access to his archives and thus laid the foundations for this special drawing primer, a school for seeing.
