Munich 1972: For the first time after 1936 Germany hosts the Olympics. Under world-wide skepticism these games become a political statement.
Otl Aicher developed far more than just a design concept for these games, he contributed to a new perception of Germany throughout the world.
Happy games they were ought to be, and even after almost 40 years the posters recall this spirit within their viewers – despite the dark memories of the hostage drama.

Being the host country, the German women’s volleyball team qualified automatically in 1972, but unfortunately they only made the last place.
In 2010 (beach-) volleyball fans can be especially proud of one of the rare Aicher posters!
