They are with us always. No order, invoice, delivery, no marriage, no divorce, no immigration or emigration, no tax return, no arrest warrant, no sick certificate, no health system can do without them. They are with us from birth on; we cannot even die without them: forms.
They put our lives in order or even just in shape; they promise clarity and orientation and yet often cause even more confusion, chaos and helplessness. Often neglected from the design aspect, they carry on a silent dialogue...

It could be simpler to find one’s own way through the tangle of questions. There could, Borries Schwesinger is convinced, be appealing forms and the way to them: »to like forms« could be the first step. After this book, you will!
Hard to imagine? We thought so, too! Until Borries Schwesinger arrived, presented his excellent thesis and drew us under the spell of something that we had until then viewed rather with loathing and irritation: forms.
He guides...

us into the world of the silent questioners with passion, meticulousness and humour. He proves that interaction with a form can be done, even be fun, if a few basic rules are followed.
We hope that this enthusiasm is contagious for designers and users, but especially for the commissioners of forms. So that one day it will be fun to enter or leave a country, check in or out, post letters or packages, even to file a missing person report.
